Mission: To assist the nine chapters in California in executing AGA's
goals, programs and mission.
Vision: To form a winning team by assisting chapters to operate as a
well rounded professional organization.
REGIONAL VICE PRESIDENT - Alex Guiang, CGFM
As Regional Vice President (RVP) for California Region, Alex is the Chief
Elected Officer for the Association’s California regional operations. He
represents California region as a member of the National Board of
Directors and serve as a focal point for promoting the interests of regional
membership in governing the Association activities. He leads the
California regional team (RVP-Elect, Immediate Past RVP and Regional
Coordinators) in providing general assistance to chapter officers in
conducting chapter operations and resolving chapter problems. In
addition, Alex takes an active role in promoting chapter involvement in
Association programs and activities.
As stated, Alex is a member of the National Board of Directors. Within the
limits of the Association’s Bylaws and Policies and Procedures, he is
responsible for and have the commensurate authority to:
- Serve as the leader and coach of the RVP team
- Serve as liaison between local Chapters and the national
organization in matters concerning their region
- Assist Chapters in accomplishing the Association’s objectives and
strategies
- Visit chapters and communicate successes, accomplishments,
problems, issues, concerns, etc. to the Senior Vice President for
Regional Services (SVPRS) and the National Office
- Support, promote and encourage Chapter growth and retention
through involvement in local Chapter meetings and other activities.
- Provide input to the SVPRS in developing the annual Sectional
Leadership Meeting
- Encourage and promote chapter training and educational services.
- Provide for communication and coordination among Chapters in
their regions, including periodic regional conference calls with
Chapter Presidents and the regional team
Regional Vice President-Elect - David Bobbit, CGFM, CPA, CIA
As the Regional Vice President-Elect, David assists the Regional Vice
President (RVP) in accomplishing his assigned duties and
responsibilities. He is responsible for working with RVP to assist local
chapters in conducting chapter operations and resolve chapter problems.
In addition, David works on developing ways to coordinate regional
resources in accomplishing common goals and resolving common
problems.
Immediate Past Regional Vice President - Linda Kjelgaard, CPA
As the Immediate Past RVP, Linda is an ex officio member of the National
Board of Directors. She serves to assist and as a counselor to the RVP
and the RVP-Elect. Linda provides continuity to existing programs and
support for the AGA programs and accepts responsibilities and
assignments delegated to her by the RVP. She presides over regional
meetings in the absence of the RVP and RVP-Elect.
Regional Coordinators (see list below)
Under the direction of the RVP and guidance of the National Coordinator,
the Regional Coordinators take an active role in helping Chapters
maximize their involvement in Association programs and activities.
Regional Coordinators specialize in specific chapter functions, such as
education, certification, membership and early careers, and chapter
development and assistance, and share his/her knowledge of the subject
matter with all Chapters in the region. In addition, Regional Coordinators
assist the current RVP to accomplish his assigned duties and
responsibilities as a part of the Regional Team.
Within the limits of the Association’s Bylaws and Policies and Procedures,
the Regional Coordinators are responsible for and have commensurate
authority to:
- Provide assistance and share ideas and best practices with the
Chapters, individual functional Regional Coordinators and all the
functional Regional Coordinators as a group across the AGA.
- Assist the RVPs by reporting on their functional area.
- Routinely communicate with each Chapter’s representative for the
specific function to offer assistance and guidance.
- Discuss issues and concerns with the RVP and Regional Team as
necessary and offering solutions.
- Participate on routine telephone conference calls with RVP,
National Coordinator and other RCs in their specific function from
across the AGA and offering ideas and best practices.
- Provide the Regional Team with a quarterly report on the status of
Chapter activities in their area and applicable function at least four
weeks prior to scheduled NEC meetings.
The Northern and Southern California Region was merged on July 1, 2004
but each maintain Regional Coordinators.
